Reframing the future of video
We kicked off with an address from our CEO Philip Moyer, who covered the ever-expanding role of storytelling and video, plus Vimeo’s role in shaping the future of it. We know video is huge, but in the next five years, video growth is expected to explode: Internet use across the globe will expand to nearly 8 billion users who will consume 2.1 trillion videos a year. How will your company capitalize on the growing growth of video?
Vimeo Marketing and Vimeo Central are changing how we work
Zohar Dayan, our SVP of Product, walked us through all the ways Vimeo Marketing is helping brands engage with their audience. He highlighted the ad-free player, our robust embedding and sharing capabilities, privacy settings, and SEO discoverability.
“The SEO and discoverability benefits that we offer — you simply cannot get with YouTube or other video hosting websites. We’re doing a ton of things behind the scenes to optimize your metadata to help you rank much higher in search results… and we do all of this by driving traffic directly to you and not to our website.”
Megan Dunleavy, Sr. Product Director, showed us how Vimeo Central is keeping workforces engaged with tools to help you import and organize content, manage permissions, and create highlight reels and summaries of internal videos.
One of our fave features? “Every single video uploaded to your library is automatically transcribed, allowing you to search the transcripts by keywords and phrases to locate the exact video down to the timestamp to literally see the information you are hunting for,” Megan told the audience.
Our search, transcribing, and translation features, plus Vimeo’s ability to ask a video questions, makes it a perfect solution for L&D.
Scaling and securing your content is easier than ever
Dynamic duo Ari Ross (Principal Product Manager) and Matt Fisher (VP, Product Engineering) explained everything Vimeo — which serves around 10,000 years of video every month — is doing to keep your content and your brand secure.
Their talk was peppered with catnip for the security crowd, including things like our data protection and security protocols, domain restrictions, mainland China delivery, EU-based video storage, geoblocking, accessibility features, and the launch of new dedicated Workspaces.
“It’s not just about security — it’s also about ensuring that your videos run flawlessly anywhere in the world and ensuring that they’re accessible to all.”
Spatial video is here
Fan favorite Bennett Marano (Product Marketing Lead) hopped on stage with an exciting announcement: Vimeo now supports spatial video — and we’ve officially launched the Vimeo App for Apple Vision Pro. We’re thrilled to bring you a whole new way to experience video.
Spatial video is truly a “sneak peek into what the future of video holds. It’s like being dropped into a scene from your favorite movie.” Bennett explained that spatial videos offer a much more immersive viewing experience — one that feels more personal to the audience than traditional 2D.
We’re prepped and ready for AI in 2025
To close out the product portion of Vimeo REFRAME, our new Chief Product and Technology Officer Bob Petrocelli outlined Vimeo’s AI strategy for 2025. The TLDR is that our Vimeo AI efforts are focused on safety and security, interoperability, and taking strategic bets.
In 2025, we’re looking forward to rolling out even more sophisticated language translations and video intelligence that lets you interact with content in new and exciting ways. That means custom vocabularies, eye-line correction, and the option for human translators when you need to create highly nuanced content. Plus, we’re working on an even better viewer experience that will finetune the ability to extract information from videos.
“There are kids right now in preschool who, when they’re adults, will not remember a time when we didn’t talk to our videos… It’s more than just a cool engineering result. It’s really a paradigm shift in how we tell our stories.”
Video is powering our top customers
We also got to speak with a few customers about how their business is using Vimeo. Paige O’Neill, CMO of sales enablement platform Seismic, shared with our CMO, Charlie Ungashick how a partnership with Vimeo on a video training platform has helped some customers increase their close rates by a whopping 50%.
Her best advice is to, of course, think video first — but also lean into less-polished video, which is more authentic and in turn, more engaging and effective.
There’s never been a better time to tell stories with video, and we love having you along for the ride. Thanks to everyone who joined us at Vimeo REFRAME! If you missed out on the fun, on-demand recordings are coming shortly. Stay tuned.
