What is happening to Livestream.com

Today marks a bittersweet milestone as we begin to sunset the Livestream platform. Vimeo acquired Livestream in 2017, and since then, we’ve been working hard to integrate the best of Livestream’s technology into Vimeo’s own video ecosystem. Given how far Vimeo’s event capabilities have progressed in the last eight years, we have decided to shut down the legacy Livestream platform as a standalone service.

We know this may be disappointing news for some and we want to express our deepest gratitude to every Livestream customer who has been part of this journey. Your passion for live video has been an inspiration, and we're honored to have played a role in helping you share your stories with the world. We hope we can continue to support and encourage you to take your video to the next level.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible team at Livestream, many of whom are still with Vimeo today. Your dedication, expertise, and passion have been instrumental in building and supporting the platform over the years. From nurturing creativity (and hustle) in our worldwide offices, to launching the Mevo camera, to democratizing live streaming, and having a front-row seat to amazing, world-changing events – we’re incredibly proud of everything we accomplished together. And we had so much fun doing it.

What’s changing

We've been proactively notifying Livestream users about upcoming changes to the platform over the past year. As a result of the Livestream.com discontinuation, Livestream subscriptions are no longer eligible for renewal. And, as of today, Livestream users will no longer be able to broadcast live events. Additionally, phone support for Livestream Enterprise is no longer available.

Users will still be able log in to their Livestream accounts and download any existing videos, and viewers will still be able to view existing videos on livestream.com, or wherever they’re embedded, until June 2025. In June, Livestream users will no longer be able to log in to livestream.com and any remaining videos on the platform will be deleted.

Are you a Vimeo OTT customer? Read more about how these changes impact live events on OTT.

We encourage users to migrate any remaining Livestream events to Vimeo, where live capabilities continue to expand and improve. If you would like to continue receiving live streaming phone support, explore Vimeo Enterprise live streaming.

What’s not changing

Did you know Vimeo offers its own live streaming capabilities, ensuring you can host high quality, reliable, and secure live events? We offer key features loved by Livestream users, like event embedding, password protection, eCDN, DVR, 24/7 live streaming, and (coming in the next few months) geoblocking. Users can run multiple concurrent streams, as well as simulcast to up to 10 integrated destinations and 20 custom RTMP destinations. With our web-based production tool, you can simulate a live event; engage your audience with live chat, polls, and Q&A; and host webinars with attendee registration, branded automated emails, marketing integrations, and more.

We will continue to maintain Livestream Studio, our desktop-based event production tool, and Livestream Studio dongle licenses and hardware machines will continue to operate. Please visit our Help Center to learn more about how to access Livestream Studio after migrating to Vimeo.
